Practicing Forgiveness

In today's world of mass media where people are critical and drawn to imperfections, it can be difficult to not be hard on yourself for not living up to the impossibly high standard of ideal perfection.

On social media, and of course in life, I've made millions and millions of mistakes that I have felt embarrassed by and guilty over. I am someone who often dwells on past mistakes, and this often impacts my confidence and optimism about the future.

Forgiving yourself is essential to your well-being as well as forgiving others, but it is not always easy. Sometimes the key to forgiving yourself and others simply lies in your ability to let things go, which is often far easier said than done. However, some of the best ways to move on from the past can be very simple. Sometimes just little things like taking deep breaths, trying a new hobby, or making a new friend can help bring you out of a rut.

Letting go of the past is not an easy thing to do, however it is essential to having a bright and positive day. Forgiving others is not about excusing their actions, but releasing the negative energy from your life, because YOU deserve peace. Forgiving yourself is about loving yourself as a perfectly imperfect human being.

YOU deserve happiness, inner peace, and a fulfilling life.
